The Purjes Foundation

LETTER SENT BY THE PLANTRICIAN PROJECT TO ITS NETWORK OF PHYSICIANS & HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS ANNOUNCING THE PARTNERSHIP WITH THE PURJES FOUNDATION TO CREATE THE INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF DISEASE REVERSAL & PREVENTION.

Dear Friends,

I want to share with you an exciting development that has the potential to make a dramatic impact on disease reversal and prevention through plant-based nutrition.

Just a few days ago, the Plantrician Project in conjunction with The Purjes Foundation announced their plan to create the International Journal of Disease Reversal & Prevention (the “Journal”). This peer-reviewed, open access Journal, free from industry influence, will become the primary repository of scientific research and articles documenting the power of plant-based, whole foods diets to arrest and reverse chronic diseases. No such journal has ever existed.

The Plantrician Project (http://plantricianproject.org/) is a rapidly growing, non-profit organization with a global network of 30,000 physicians and healthcare professionals to whom it provides education and tools that promote the benefits of plant-based nutrition to patients. Each year, the Plantrician Project hosts international nutrition conferences presenting current and progressing research evidencing the preventive and disease reversal capabilities of a whole foods, plant-based diet. Almost 1,000 physicians and healthcare professionals attended its most recent conference in Anaheim, CA.

The Purjes Foundation is a non-profit charitable foundation focusing on promoting the reversal of disease through nutrition, research, and education. The Purjes Foundation funded a plant-based clinical trial at NYU Medical Center that demonstrated significant improvement in a primary marker of inflammation in cardiovascular-diseased patients. The results were described in a recent Wall Street Journal feature article and have been submitted for publication to the Journal of the American Medical Association. The Purjes Foundation also recently acquired the documentary film, Eating You Alive, which presents numerous stories of remarkable reversal of various diseases. The Purjes Foundation hopes to screen the film in 1000 theaters in 2018.

The Journal is envisioned to be an influential, internationally acclaimed publication of the highest integrity, free from the industry influence that often taints research where drugs and devices are involved. The Journal will inspire and document research demonstrating disease reversal and prevention through nutrition. Until now, such research has often been published in a scattered way, often in various secondary journals, many of them generally unknown to doctors and researchers. By having one place known to all physicians, researchers, medical institutions, media, the government and lay public as being THE place to find scientific information on the benefits of a plant-based, whole foods diet, the Journal will have immense impact on medical standards of care.

Won’t you please help make the International Journal of Disease Reversal & Prevention a major success? The Purjes Foundation has donated 50% of the initial cost of funding the Journal. Please consider contributing to this immensely important cause. Thank you for your support.
